At the opening ceremony of the 2014 World Bioenergy Confence, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, awarded the World Bioenergy Award 2014 to Mr Jorgen Sandstrom of Addax Bioenergy. Mr Sandstrom has been recognised for his outstanding work in developing a sustainable sugarcane biomass plant in Sierra Leone which will provide 20% of the electricity to the countries national grid, whilst uplifting the regions local food security, contributing to the local economy and offering a farmers development program. During the acceptance speech, Mr Sandstrom emphasised that future developments must be supported with predictable policies, support and political will for this model to be replicated in developing regions.
